An 18-year-old Glen Cove man was arrested Tuesday and charged with breaking into cars in Sea Cliff late last month, Nassau County police said.

Taylor Steed, of 29 Chadwick St., was arrested by Bureau of Special Operations officers near the intersection of Glen Cove Avenue and Walnut Avenue in Glen Head.

He was arraigned Wednesday on four counts of petty larceny. Bail was set at $500 cash or bond and he was ordered to return to court Friday. He was represented by Legal Aid, which does not comment on cases.

Police could not immediately say Wednesday what evidence led to Steed's arrest in the auto break-ins, which occurred in Sea Cliff on June 26.

According to police, Steed entered four unlocked and unoccupied vehicles parked on Altamont Avenue, Cromwell Place, Dubois Court and Irving Place, stealing cash, electronics, clothing and an air compressor. The thefts occurred at about 1 a.m., police said.
