Emergency repaving on a section of the northbound Meadowbrook State Parkway in Hempstead Town is planned for Thursday during daytime off-peak travel hours, the state Department of Transportation said Wednesday.

That means there will be just a single travel lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for motorists in the vicinity of the Stewart Avenue Bridge, Exit M4, the DOT said.

After that, pothole repair work is to take place on an as-needed basis weekdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. until permanent repaving is conducted in early June during nighttime hours.

To help avoid delays, the DOT advised motorists to use alternate routes, such as Merrick Avenue or the Wantagh State Parkway.
