State Police car hit responding to call
A State Police marked car responding to a call Thursday was struck by another vehicle and hit a utility pole in Garden City Park, police said.
Neither the driver of the marked unit nor the other car's driver was seriously injured in the accident at the intersection of Nassau Boulevard and Jericho Turnpike, police said.

The trooper was taken to Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, where he was treated for a head injury and released. The other driver was checked by Nassau County Police Ambulance and refused treatment at the scene, police said.
The marked unit and two additional police units were responding to a call in the Mineola area when the accident happened, police said.
The marked unit was traveling west on Jericho Turnpike at Nassau Boulevard when it was struck by the other car, which was traveling south on Nassau Boulevard.
The collision spun the police unit around and it struck a utility pole in a nearby median, police said in a news release.
The intersection was closed for several hours as police investigated the accident.
