A man riding a bike in Rockville Centre was hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday, Nassau police said.

The victim, 37, was going south on Long Beach Road when he was hit by a Ford going east on Sunrise Highway just before 12:30 p.m., homicide investigators said.

The victim, 37, was going south on Long Beach Road when he was hit by a Ford going east on Sunrise Highway just before 12:30 p.m., homicide investigators said.

The bicyclist suffered head and body trauma, police said.

Hi name was not released.

The Ford driver, 32, was not injured, police said, and his vehicle was tested for safety and brake operation. The investigation is ongoing, detectives said.

The collision shut down Sunrise Highway in both directions and it was not fully open until almost four hours later.
