Boy suffers head injuries while riding bike

An 11-year-old boy riding a bicycle across a street in Deer Park was hospitalized with serious head injuries after a collision between his bike and a car, Suffolk police said.
The boy, who was not wearing a helmet, was riding across Skidmore Road about 20 feet south of Maida Avenue when the bicycle collided with a 2003 Honda Civic driven by a woman, police said. The police withheld the names of the boy and the driver.
