Cops: Driver ignored 'road closed' signs
A Riverhead woman whose license was suspended 16 times faces a drunken driving charge after, police said, she drove around "road closed" signs at a construction zone in Flanders.
Shannon M. Hofsiss, 25, was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to obey a traffic control device, first-degree and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, open container and failure to wear a seat belt, Southampton Town police said in a Tuesday news release.

She was arraigned and released Tuesday on $7,000 bail.
Hofsiss was arrested following a traffic stop at 3:36 a.m., police said. They said officers saw Hofsiss drive around "several road closed signs" at the intersection of County Road 31, Old Riverhead Road, and County Road 104, Quogue-Riverhead Road. An investigation found her license had been suspended 16 previous times, police said.
