A 19-year-old Queens man was arrested in Mattituck Sunday afternoon after Southold Town police said he attempted to steal a package of frozen cookie dough from a store.

William E. Ronayne of Middle Village was charged with petit larceny after being arrested at the Handy Pantry store on Route 25 at 4:47 p.m.

A 19-year-old Queens man was arrested in Mattituck Sunday afternoon after Southold Town police said he attempted to steal a package of frozen cookie dough from a store.

William E. Ronayne of Middle Village was charged with petit larceny after being arrested at the Handy Pantry store on Route 25 at 4:47 p.m.

Police said Ronayne had been stopped by store employees after he "attempted to leave the store with a package of frozen cookie dough without paying for the item."

He was later released on an unspecified amount of cash bail.
