The state Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting today about the second phase of a proposed Setauket/Port Jefferson Station hiking and biking path. It will be from 4 to 8 p.m. at Terryville Fire Department Station 1, 19 Jayne Blvd. in Port Jefferson.

The state DOT has developed preliminary plans to connect the existing 1.2-mile path with Route 25A and Route 112, resulting in a 3.3-mile path.

The project would use existing state right-of-way and a short section of Gnarled Hollow Road.

Construction is scheduled to begin next year.
