The unidentified driver of a 2023 Infiniti Q50 sedan was heading west on Union Boulevard around 2:25 a.m. when the driver lost control and struck a Hyundai Sonata also traveling west, police said.

The crash happened just east of Route 231, according to officials. John Street was closed eastbound and Union Boulevard was closed westbound at Parkwood Road for several hours while detectives investigated the scene, a department spokesperson said.

The roads were reopened shortly before 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

A woman in the Infiniti was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Another woman passenger in the vehicle was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, police said.

Police did not release the names of the victims or drivers.

Emergency responders treated the driver of the Infiniti and two more passengers for minor injuries and police said the driver and passenger in the Hyundai were not injured.

Detectives are investigating the crash, officials said Saturday evening.

Police impounded both vehicles for safety checks and asked anyone with information to call 631-854-8352.
