A 35-year-old Islip man was killed early Sunday morning after being struck by a van while walking on the entrance ramp to the Southern State Parkway in Bay Shore, Suffolk County police said.

The victim was identified as Julio Delgado. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.

A 35-year-old Islip man was killed early Sunday morning after being struck by a van while walking on the entrance ramp to the Southern State Parkway in Bay Shore, Suffolk County police said.

The victim was identified as Julio Delgado. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the 1989 Ford van, Brett Beatty, 56, of Brentwood, was not injured. He was not charged, police said.

Police said the accident occurred at about 1 a.m. when Delgado was walking from east to west across Bay Shore Road at the entrance ramp to the Southern State Parkway when he was struck by the van, which was traveling south.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation into the accident was continuing.
