A 37-year-old male driver who died early Saturday after crashing into a divider on the Long Island Expressway, apparently suffered a medical issue before the collision, according to Suffolk County police.

A 37-year-old male driver who died early Saturday after crashing into a divider on the Long Island Expressway, apparently suffered a medical issue before the collision, according to Suffolk County police.

Christian Aviles, of Ridge, was driving a Subaru Legacy west on the LIE, near Exit 61 in Holtsville, when the car struck a center divider around 4:08 a.m., police said in a news release.

He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
