Suffolk County union knocks Steve Bellone
Suffolk's largest county union, the Association of Municipal Employees, has sent out a mailing attacking Babylon Supervisor Steve Bellone, the Democratic county executive candidate -- for being too much like Steve Levy, the departing Democrat-turned-Republican incumbent.
The 6,500-member union, which has endorsed Suffolk Treasurer Angie Carpenter, the GOP candidate, said in the mailing that "Bellone's message of 'doing more with less' is the same non-realizing tax savings antics we have endured over the last eight years with . . . Levy."

The union's mailing, meanwhile, described Carpenter as a "county worker; she is one of us, and she has been an AME supporter from day one." And it states: "From Angie Carpenter, you hear about working together."
