Dog rescued from Wyandanch fire
A dog gets oxygen from the Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights Ambulance Corps at the scene of a fire early Saturday morning at a house on 30th Street in Wyandanch. Heavy smoke and fire were coming from the house, which officials said was reportedly split into several different apartments, making it difficult for firefighters to extinguish the fire. Two pets died in the fire, but the building's occupants reportedly escaped uninjured, officials said. The cause of the fire, brought under control in about 40 minutes, was being investivgated.
