Hearing set on Levitt Park plan

The Town of North Hempstead will hold a public hearing next month on the creation of a park district for the proposed Levitt Park at Roslyn Heights.
Plans for the park — including the proposed boundaries of the park district, the financing and the cost of operations — will be available at the North Hempstead town clerk’s office.

The Levitt Park name could change, however, according to Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman.
At Tuesday night’s town board meeting, Kaiman said the name of the proposed park, which would encompass 7.3 acres of the shuttered Roslyn Country Club, is just a placeholder and is subject to change depending on the desires of residents in the proposed park district.
“We anticipate the community is going to decide what it will be called, and we anticipate it will probably be called the Roslyn Country Club,” Kaiman said.
The public hearing will be held at the town board meeting on Nov. 13.
