The Islip Town NAACP will be holding a town-hall meeting and rally about education, immigration, and workers’ rights at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the auditorium of the Brentwood Public Library, 34 Second Ave.

Roderick Pearson, president of Islip’s NAACP, said organizers hope to “educate and empower the community” about how each topic affects individuals in the town.

The event will feature a panel of speakers who will discuss local challenges related to each issue, Pearson said. People who attend will be encouraged to participate in the conversation and voice their concerns about local happenings.

“We want it to be the beginning of strategic planning,” Pearson said, adding that he hopes participants will discuss challenges and solutions to problems facing Islip residents.
