Main Street parking rules to be relaxed
The North Hempstead Town Board has voted to relax parking restrictions along portions of Main Street in Port Washington.
Parking will be allowed for two hours at certain metered spots on Main Street, as opposed to the current one hour, and parking enforcement will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., instead of the current 6 p.m.

Councilwoman Dina DeGiorgio, who represents Port Washington, said the current meters will be reprogrammed to allow for the extra time.
Supervisor Jon Kaiman said the change would take about a month to complete.
The vote taken Tuesday was 5-0, with council members Anna Kaplan and Thomas Dwyer absent.
