New York City firefighters have responded to a call about a manhole explosion in midtown after receiving calls Sunday night reporting loud booming sounds.

A little after 10:20 p.m. firefighters were dispatched to 450 W. 42nd St. after receiving reports about a possible explosion, said an FDNY spokesman.

No injuries have been reported as of 10:45 p.m. and the cause of the explosion is being investigated as a possible "manhole situation," FDNY officials said.

An NYPD spokeswoman said the incident was reported as a manhole cover explosion, and no smoke or fire appeared to be involved.
