Fairway Market in Plainview is hosting a fundraiser today to benefit the Nassau County Firefighters Museum’s new Sept. 11 memorial exhibit.

The 5,000-square-foot exhibit, “Lives of Service: Celebrating the Heroes of September 11th,” will honor the 18 active Nassau County volunteer firefighters — and numerous former volunteers — who died in the World Trade Center attack. The exhibit, inside the Cradle of Aviation at 399 Charles Lindbergh Blvd. in Garden City, coincides with the event’s 10th anniversary.

Shoppers may contribute from 4 to 10 p.m. when they enter the store, at 50 Manetto Hill Rd. They will get a smoke detector, and proceeds from purchases will go toward the exhibit.
