The newest crop of high school graduates are about to earn their diplomas and, for many, the next step is higher education.

Newsday has put together a comprehensive gallery of Long Island's 2014 valedictorians, including information on where they're headed next.

The newest crop of high school graduates are about to earn their diplomas and, for many, the next step is higher education.

Newsday has put together a comprehensive gallery of Long Island's 2014 valedictorians, including information on where they're headed next.

Some are leaving the region altogether, going to highly rated schools such as Stanford University, Harvard University, Duke University or the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Others are staying in the Empire State, but reaching for the stars at New York University, Columbia University or Cornell University.

Finally, some are staying on Long Island.
