Classmate: She had a 'peaceful spirit'

I had the pleasure of being in a class at Hempstead High with Dorothy. My sister was in the same class as her sister Ethel and if I'm not mistaken I had a class with her brother Desi as well.

I will always remember the last time that I saw her. I bumped into Dorothy at Roosevelt Field a few years after graduating from college.

Dorothy had such a radiant, warm, calm, peaceful spirit about her that night. I think often about that encounter. I am so grateful that I got to meet such a nice person like her in my lifetime and I am so glad that I can always look in my yearbook and read the kinds words that she wrote to me.

Peace be with you always Dorothy and keep smiling on us. You are too good to be forgotten.

Your '72 Hempstead High classmate,

Pat Heckstall

Co-worker: 'Soft-spoken, kind' person

I worked at the Treiber Group on Long Island from 1990 to 2000. Dorothy was an employee there at the time and also use to handle my auto insurance policy there. I left the company in 2000 to work in the city as Dorothy did. The days that followed 9/11, I read Newsday and could not believe it when i saw her picture. I was in shock. I often think about if she stayed at this job she would be alive. Who knows what lies in store for us. My heart is saddened by her family and friends. A soft-spoken, kind person.
