A Long Island man waving a Palestinian flag ran onto the field at Yankee Stadium on Friday night during the 9/11 25th anniversary game between the Yankees and the Mets, according to the NYPD.
Kelly Marcucci, 38, of Bay Shore, jumped onto the field from the stands around 9:15 p.m. while carrying the flag in the middle of the seventh inning, a police spokesman confirmed to Newsday.
Marcucci was arrested and charged with trespassing and interference with a professional sporting event.
He was later released and given a desk appearance ticket, according to the police spokesman.
Representatives with both teams declined to comment when contacted by Newsday on Saturday.
The Yankees defeated the Mets 6-4 in front of a sellout crowd of 47,410 on Friday night.
