The remains of one more victim of the Sept. 11 World Trade Center attack have been identified as those of Anna A. Laverty, 52, the New York City office of the chief medical examiner announced Thursday.
The identification, which is the result of retesting of remains, brings to 1,634 the total number of identified victims, according to the medical examiner's office. In all, 2,753 were reported missing in the attack.
Besides DNA, other modalities used to identify victims include dental x-rays, fingerprints, photos, personal effects, tattoos, according to the medical examiner.
Laverty was a Middletown, N.J., resident who worked as a legal secretary at Fiduciary Trust International.
Eighty-seven employees of Fiduciary Trust and its parent Franklin Templeton were lost in the attack, according to a 2003 statement to the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States. At that time Fiduciary Trust's New York headquarters were on the 90th and 94-97th floors in the trade center's South Tower.
