First Quarter

The Colonials started the game with a bang. Well, more of a zoom. Stacey Bedell returned the opening kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown. That is a Long Island championship game record. He snagged the ball as it knuckled inside the 10, cut right, shook off an arm tackle, slipped between a few defenders toward the sideline then zigged back to the middle after finding a crease back toward the middle. He then broke free and ran untouched for the final 50 yards. 7-0, Floyd

After Freeport went 3-and-out, Bedell scored on a 52-yard run to give Floyd a 14-0 lead. Floyd 14, Freeport 0

Freeport answered right back on a 14-yard run by quarterback Isaiah Barnes to cut it to 14-7 midway through the first quarter. A big play from Barnes to Jeff Williams. Don't sleep on Jeff Williams. Floyd 14, Freeport 7

SECOND QUARTER

Stacey Bedell is at it again. This time he scores on a 40-yard interception return to tie the score after Dylan Munster kicks the extra point with 11:06 left.

Barnes scores on a 30-yard run and Sandoval kicks the extra point with 8:13 left. Freeport 28, Floyd 21

Luke Miller scores on a 1-yard run with 44 seconds left and Sandoval kicks the extra point to tie the score at 28 for Floyd. Freeport 28, Floyd 28

Maurice Irby with a big run of 35-yard run to the Floyd 31 with 27 seconds left in the first half. Barnes hits Jere Brown, who does a nice job along the sideline keeping his feet in bounds for a 19-yard gain. Freeport has the ball at the 9 with 21 seconds left. Barnes runs to the 5-yard line with 13 seconds left. Barnes fakes the handoff and scores on a 5-yard TD run with 8 seconds left. Sandoval kicks the extra points and Freeport is back ahead. HALFTIME: FREEPORT 35, FLOYD 28

Freeport is averaging 12.7 yards per play. It is already the highest scoring game in LIC Class I history. The previous record was 72. Freeport has 330 yards of offense.

Isaiah Barnes has eight carries for 68 yards and four rushing TDs. Olivier has 57 yards on six carries. Irby has four carries for 48 yards,

Barnes is 4 of 7 for 103 yards. Jeff Williams has three catches for 81 yards. Evan Lapice has a 54-yard catch.

For Floyd, Stacey Bedell had 10 carries for 77 yards with a TD. A.J. Otranto is 5 of 7 for 63 yards.

THIRD QUARTER

Freeport opens the second half with the ball at its own 39. Barnes keeps it and gains 4 yards. Irby gains 2 yards and it's third-and-3. Barnes keeps it, running to his left and picks up 8 yards to the Floyd 46. Irby gains 4 on first down. Barnes keeps it and this time cuts to the right sideline all the way to the 18. Barnes with another carry and picks up 11 yards to the seven. It's first-and-goal. Jere Brown gets the handoff and gets no gain. Barnes takes it up the middle for a 7-yard gain. It is his fifth TD of the game with 8:45 left in the quarter. Sandoval kicks the extra point. Freeport 42, Floyd 28

Floyd starts at its own 25. Bedell gains 22 to the Red Devils 36. Miller gains 5 to the 31. Floyd is facing a third-and-5. It's a play-action pass from Otranto to Miller for a first down. Floyd has it at the Freeport 17, Miller runs for a first down to the Red Devils 6 after a 7-yard gain. Bedell looked to be tackled at the five, but he escapes for a 5-yard TD with 3:45 left. He has four TDs. Freeport 42, Floyd 35 

Freeport will start at its own 35 after another bouncing kickoff as Floyd is trying to limit big kickof returns.Olivier gets a first down to the 45 after a 10-yard gain. Irby gets 6 yards and then 1 yard, setting up a third-and-3. There goes Barnes again, this time along the right sideline for a 48-yard TD run and it is a record sixth TD of the games for Barnes. Sandoval kicks the extra point with 1:47 left. Freeport 49, Floyd 35 

Floyd starts at its own 31 and a sack brings up third-and-17. Bedell picks up 6 and Floyd will punt with three seconds left in the quarter. The punt goes 39 yards and ends the quarter.

END OF THREE QUARTERS: FREEPORT 49, FLOYD 35

FOURTH QUARTER

Freeport starts at its own 31 and takes a big loss on the first play. A penalty makes it second-and-27 at he 14. Olivier gets a short gain to bring up third-and-24 at the 17. Freeport punts it on third down. Everyone one seems okay with the ball, but I'm shocked. Why punt on third down with this offense? I don't get it.

Floyd starts at its own 43. On fourth-and-six at their own 48, the Colonials throw an incomplete pass. Freeport takes over on downs.

The Red Devils start at the Floyd 48. Barnes gains nine on the first play. Allen runs to his right, reverses field and picks up a first down to the 37. Barnes with another first down to the 27. Barnes picks up two yards. Olivier picks up two. Barnes gets no gain. On fourth down Barnes hits a wide open Jeff Williams for a 22-yard TD. Freeport has 500 yards of offense with 5:30 left in the game. Sandoval kicks the extra point. Freeport 56, Floyd 35 

Floyd starts at own 26. On a fourth down, Floyd gets stopped at its own 35 with 3:54 left.

Barnes with another big gain down to the eight. Irby scores on an 8-yard run with 2:22 left. The extra point is no good. Freeport 62, Floyd 35 

Floyd fumbles and Freeport recovers with 56 seconds left. The Red Devils have the ball at the Floyd 39. The Red Devils will take a knee.

FREEPORT WINS 62-35

Freeport wins its fourth Long Island championship and second consecutive win over Floyd.
