An Arizona subsidiary of Melville-based Comtech Telecommunications Corp. has a new $1 million contract to enhance high-speed satellite Internet Protocol networks linking numerous countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Tempe, Az., subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., won $1.0 million in equipment orders to support Vipersat-powered dynamic Single Carrier per Channel (dSCPC) satellite networks that provide high-speed Internet connections on demand, Comtech said.

A Comtech news release did not specify the countries served by the satellite networks, but said they are deployed "throughout Asia-Pacific."

The networks, Comtech said, "provide high-speed IP emergency services communications for governments and utility companies in preparation for natural disasters or terrestrial failures."
