Forbes magazine's list of the 10 most affluent U.S. communities includes four of Nassau County's incorporated villages, where median household incomes are nearly a quarter-million dollars.

"No region… has more of the nation's most affluent neighborhoods than Long Island, N.Y.," the Forbes annual rankings article says.

"The villages of Plandome, Hewlett Neck, Plandome Manor and Munsey Park are all among the nation's richest, with estimated household median income of between $234,000 and $242,000."

-- Plandome is #5, with $242,000 median income.
-- Hewlett Neck is #6, at $239,000.
-- Munsey Park is #7, at $237,000.
-- And Plandome Manor is #8, at $234,000.

Tops in the U.S. is Westlake, Texas, followed by Kenilworth, Ill., Mission Hills, Kan., Popponesset Island, Mass., (its 39 residents include New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, whose house is probably draped in black this week), North Beach, Fla., and Chevy Chase, Md.
