6,340 take Marcum challenge

Marcum Workplace Challenge 2010 race begins
There were 6,340 participants from 187 companies on Tuesday night for the Marcum Workplace Challenge, a 3.5-mile race to raise money for the Long Island Children's Museum and the Children's Medical Medical Fund of New York.
The race began at 7 p.m. at Zach's Bay, Jones Beach State Park.
"It went great," said Mindy Davidson of the Greater Long Island Running Club, which oversaw the event. "Everyone thought it was the best year yet . . . the weather cooperated, the times were fast."
Davidson didn't have a tally of the money raised yet. "That's something that we won't know for some time," she said, "because we still have bills that we're paying. We generally don't know until some time in September."
Marcum LLP in Melville, the Island's largest accounting firm, has been sponsoring the event since 2005.
