Smashburger chain 7th Street Burger opened its first Long Island location Friday in Mineola.

The chain launched in Manhattan in 2021, according to co-founder Kevin Rezvani. He said he opened the first restaurant with a credit card while living with friends in Queens.

"I was delivering for Amazon at the time," Rezvani said. "It was a hit, and it changed my life."

The chain has since grown to 24 locations in New York, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.

7th Street Burger's website touts a menu featuring only smashburgers, loaded fries with toppings, sides and a house-made sauce. Burgers are served on Martin's potato rolls, with vegetarian options for burgers.

"It's a very straightforward menu," Rezvani said. "It's a good burger at an affordable price. There's no lettuce, no tomato, no bacon. It's house sauce, pickle, meat, cheese, bread."  A single burger costs $6.50, according to the company's website.

Rezvani said he plans to open 10 more stores by Christmas, including in Philadelphia, Baltimore, D.C. and New Jersey. He is also considering additional Long Island locations.
