A networking event for start-up companies
More than 220 attendees are expected at an event geared toward helping the Long Island start-up community get more “connected,” said the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency, which is hosting the event.
Called Start-up Connect, the event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Paramount in Huntington.
During the event, different types of participants -- such as start-up employees, venture capitalists, mentors and local officials -- will be identified by customized name tags to allow for easier networking, said Suffolk IDA chief executive Anthony Manetta.
Local professionals involved in the entrepreneurial community, such as Mark Lesko of Accelerate Long Island and Mark Fasciano of the Thought Box incubator space, will also give short talks to offer start-up advice.
Only start-up employees, venture capitalists and IDA members will be allowed during the first hour, with business professionals welcome the second hour of the event.
