A subsidiary of Globecomm Systems Inc., of Hauppauge, has achieved what it says is a “maritime milestone” – installing its 100th satellite link communications system for the shipping fleet of a single customer, Briese Schiffahrts, a German line.

The specific system is Globecomm’s se@Comm, which is installed with a Satlink Inmarsat FB250 FleetBroadband terminal. Both linking systems were supplied and installed by the Globecomm subsidiary company Telaurus Communications Llc.

The se@Comm system gives shipboard workers access to e-mail, fax, telex, text messages and the Internet.

The 100th system was installed on the BBC Jade, a freighter.
