Aceto launches two generic drugs for skin disorders

Aceto Corp. has begun selling generic drugs to treat two skin disorders.
The Port Washington-based manufacturer of drugs and chemicals said Tuesday that it has launched Fluocinolone Acetonide Body Oil 0.01%, a generic version of Derma-Smoothe/FS Body Oil. The oils are used for atopic dermatitis, a rash that commonly affects infants.
Aceto also has introduced Fluocinolone Acetonide Scalp Oil 0.01%, a generic version of Derma-Smoothe/FS Scalp Oil. The drugs are for psoriasis of the scalp.
The products will be handled by the company’s Rising Pharmaceuticals Inc. subsidiary in New Jersey.
U.S. sales of existing versions of each drug were about $40 million in the 12 months ended May 31, according to the health care research firm IMS Health.
