Adelphi University on Monday held the ribbon cutting at its $76 million Nexus Building, which houses the university’s 22,000-square-foot Nursing Innovation Lab and Training Center.

The 100,000-square-foot Nexus building opened this fall on the Garden City campus.

Adelphi has 1,800 students at its College of Nursing and Public Health, said Dr. Patrick R. Coonan, dean of the school.

“We’ve grown the program from 400 students in the early 2000s,” Coonan said.

The state awarded $2.5 million for the new facility on the recommendation of the Long Island Regional Economic Development Council.
