Advanced Energy conference this week
Around 1,500 attendees are expected at the Long Island-organized Advanced Energy Conference, which takes place today and tomorrow at the Javits Center in Manhattan.
Coordinated by the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center in Stony Brook, the event aims to bring together researchers, academics, businesspeople, etc. to discuss and share ideas around New York State's clean energy sector.
The two days' events are divided into several topical "tracks," such as energy policy, research and commercialization, energy entrepreneurship, bio energy, advanced transportation, etc.
Doon Gibbs, the director of Brookhaven National Laboratory, and Stony Brook University president Sam Stanley will participate in keynote addresses planned throughout the conference, as well as New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Several Long Island-based clean energy start-ups are expected to participate in the panels on energy entrepreneurship.
