Aeroflex Holding Corp. Inc., a Plainview company that makes electronic equipment used in wireless communications, has hired Rafi Albarian as vice president and chief operating officer of its microelectronic unit.

Albarian assumes the newly created position after working 15 years at Linear Technology of Milpitas, Calif. Previously, he spent nine years as an infantry officer with the U.S. Army.

"Rafi has a proven track record for successfully driving profitable growth," said John Buyko, president of Aeroflex’s microelectronic unit.

Aeroflex, which employs about 2,800 people, derives much of its revenue from the U.S. government and defense contractors.
