Altice, Disney announce some details of distribution deal

Cable television provider Altice USA Inc. and the Walt Disney Co. announced some details Thursday of their agreement averting a blackout of ABC, ESPN and the Disney Channel for Optimum customers on Long Island and elsewhere in the metropolitan area.
Bethpage-based Altice and Disney, of Burbank, California, said the deal covers multiple years, but didn’t provide a duration.
The companies also said two channels would be added to Optimum: the college sports channels ESPN SEC Network, in late 2018, and ACC Network, in August 2019. The ACC Network will take the place of an unnamed ESPN channel.
The agreement “ensures our Optimum customers will continue to receive the programming they want at a reasonable cost,” Michael Schreiber, Altice’s chief content officer, said in a statement.
Altice owns 25 percent of Newsday Media Group.
