Amityville company in on $42.5M radar jamming contract
Amityville defense contractor ITT Integrated Structures will perform part of the work for a contract to build the U.S. Navy's new radar jamming system, the company said in a news release.
The company, a division of ITT Corp., will receive about 20 percent of the work on a new $42.5 million contract for the Naval Air Systems Command’s "next-generation jammer, which will replace the ALQ-99 tactical jamming system." The system is shown above, in a pod just above the wheel of an EA-18G Growler.
The jamming system has a role in the Navy's airborne electronic attack abilities.
In addition to the Amityville office's share of the contract, other ITT subsidiaries in Clifton, N.J., and in Missouri will perform work on the new jamming system.
ITT Integrated Structures employs about 500 people. From its Amityville headquarters, it administers offices in Walpole, Mass., Salt Lake City, Utah, Baton Rouge, La.; and Brighton, in the United Kingdom. The company's parent ITT Corp., with annual sales of more than $11 billion, is based in White Plains.
