Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo will announce Dec. 8 the winners of his annual competition for state business-aid.

The ceremony, to be held in a theater near the state Capitol in Albany, will cap six months of preparations by 10 regional economic development councils. Each submitted funding proposals to a panel of state judges and the state agencies that are providing the money.

Up to $750 million in state tax credits and grants will be awarded.

The Long Island council has been a big winner in four of the last five contests. It has secured a total of $424.5 million for 468 projects.

The local council, appointed by Cuomo in 2011, is led by co-vice chairmen Kevin Law, president of the Long Island Association business group, and Hofstra University president Stuart Rabinowitz. Members are drawn from the business, labor and education communities.
