Applied DNA adds to sales force

Applied DNA Sciences Inc. of Stony Brook has made a major investment in hiring three new sales professionals to market its genetic markers for use in the microchip, textile, document and graphics industries.

Applied DNA supplies DNA-based anti-counterfeiting technology and product authentication.

Its markers have proven useful in a wide range of products, from banknote die packs in the U.K. that have helped convict armed robbers to genetic strands woven into fine wool garments to guarantee authenticity.

Dave Wigfield, the new vice president for sales, was managing director of Eastman Kodak's graphic communications group for the United States and Canada.

Tom Gladtke, director of sales for textiles, will focus on the fiber, yarn, fabric, finished producs and textile printing markets. He has more than 25 years' experience in the international textiles field.

Larry McIntosh, director of sales for electronics, has two decades of experience in electronics sales. He was director of North American sales at AMD, and previously worked in sales at ATI Technologies.

"The expansion of our sales team further strengthens our ability to meet the needs of our customers," James Hayward, president and chief executive of Applied DNA, said in a prepared statement.
