Arrow Electronics buying southern IT company

Melville-based Arrow Electronics Inc. will purchase information technology company Intechra, the company announced Tuesday.

Intechra, based in Jackson, Miss., bills itself as the largest independent IT asset disposition company, providing services such as data security, and destruction and recycling.

With sales of about $75 million in the most recent fiscal year, Intechra has about 300 employees. A purchase price was not disclosed.

The deal, which is subject to regulatory approval, is expected to close by the end of the year and add 3 to 5 cents per share in the first full year of operations.

Arrow chief executive Michael J. Long said, "Intechra serves as a continuation of our strategy to provide comprehensive services across the entire product life cycle for our suppliers and customers."
