Melville-based Arrow Electronics Inc. has completed an expansion into the sale and repair of used electronic equipment by finalizing the purchase of an independent company.

Arrow closed on the purchase of Converge of Peabody, Mass., a leading provider of "reverse logistics" services, helping companies recycle, refurbish and resell computer and telecommunications equipment, the company said Tuesday.

Arrow, an electronics distributor, said the acquisition is expected to add to its annual per-share earnings by 5 to 10 cents.

Converge, with 350 employees, has offices in Singapore and Amsterdam, and support centers throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas.

Separately, Arrow announced in a news release Tuesday that it has launched a "new brand identity" for the company's cloud computing service unit.

Arrow Fusion offers such services as data center monitoring and management; security- and software-as-a-service, infrastructure-as-a-service, and business continuity and disaster recovery, the company said.

Cloud computing refers to flexible, cost-saving subscription plans allowing companies to use - and pay for - variable amounts of data storage, software and other resources over the Internet, as needed.
