Arrow signs distribution deal for data security software
Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions, a division of Melville-based Arrow Electronics Inc., has signed a North American distribution agreement with the zip utility software company PKWARE.
The agreement covers a range of software products from PKWARE, the inventor of the .zip standard, Arrow said in a news release. Products included in the agreement are PKZIP, SecureZIP, and SecureZIP PartnerLink.
Zip software compresses data securely, allowing it to be stored and delivered safely and quickly, then decrypted and unzipped - expanded into readable form - by the end-user.
"PKWARE's data-centric approach ensures that sensitive data remains protected, regardless where it is stored or how it is sent," Arrow said in the news release.
"Unlike security solutions that control access to sensitive data, or protect it only on a specific device or when it's being transmitted, SecureZIP protects the data," the release said.
Arrow said SecureZIP and PKZIP are used by more than 200 government agencies and 30,000 corporate entities, including 90 percent of the Fortune 100.
PKWARE, a privately held company, was founded in 1986 and is based in Milwaukee, with offices in New York, Ohio and the United Kingdom.
