BAE Systems Inc.'s Greenlawn unit has won a $6.7 million Department of Defense contract for 16 digital interrogators and 45 friend-or-foe kits.
Two of the interrogators would go to the government of Japan and 14 to the U.S. Navy. Thirty-three of the friend-or-foe kits are destined for the U.S. Navy and 12 for Japan. Work on the equipment is scheduled to be completed by December 2015.
The interrogators and friend-or-foe kits help aircraft, ships and submarines identify themselves to allied forces on crowded battlefields.
BAE's Greenlawn facility employs about 650 workers. BAE Systems is a unit of London-based BAE Systems PLC.
