Citizens Bank has kicked off its annual “Gear for Grades” drive, collecting new school supplies – including pencils, folders, glue, notebooks – at any of their branches through Aug, 9.

The bank hopes to fill backpacks  with new supplies for 1,300 children, part of a12-state initiative in which they want to supply 23,000 students.

Supplies will be accepted at any Citizens Bank branch in Nassau and Suffolk counties located within select Stop & Shop Supermarkets. The bank has branches Babylon, Deer Park, Dix Hills, East Northport, Farmingdale.

The backpacks, filled by bank volunteers, will be delivered to Long Island school children through various nonprofit organizations.
