Bentwood banking at high school

For the eighth year running, Teachers Federal Credit Union has opened its Bank-at-School branch at Brentwood High School, the bank said.

With the school’s cooperation and encouragement students are permitted to open savings accounts, and make deposits and withdrawals during the school day.

It’s in the high school’s career education center.

The credit union first opened there in 2002. In 2009 it brought in a fee-free, self-service coin machine.

“TFCU representatives and faculty members have received positive feedback from parents, students and teachers since 2002 when the banking program was started,” the credit union said in a news release.

In the photo above, students Michael Gonzaque, and Caroline Quintero now have their own savings accounts. Opening the accounts gave them the opportunity to spin the Teachers Federal Credit Union prize wheel. Mark Ingram, Brentwood High School career education coordinator, presented prizes to Michael and Caroline and other student winners.
