The Long Ireland Beer Company’s Facebook page notes that its owners, Greg Martin and Dan Burke, have applied for a state liquor license to open a brewery and tasting room in Riverhead.

The page includes photos of stainless-steel fermentation tanks and other brewery equipment, bought in anticipation of opening this spring (after the two get a liquor license).

In a Riverhead News-Review story, with a link on the brewery’s Facebook page, Greg Martin says their neighbors will notice “a slight scent of baking bread” once they begin brewing in the former Agway building on Pulaski Street in Riverhead.

In the meantime the company already produces and sells several beers through New England Brewing Company, in Woodbridge, Conn.

Long Ireland beers, available at stores and pubs on Long Island, are Celtic Ale, Raspberry Wheat beer, Breakfast Stout (with a recipe that includes Kenyan coffee, flaked oats and milk sugar) and Pale Ale.

On its website the company also sells Long Ireland pint glasses, tap handles, shirts and hats.
