Bethpage Federal Credit Union said Monday that effective July 1 it had acquired the United Food & Commerce Workers Local 342 Federal Credit Union of Mineola.
The local’s 2,000 members automatically became Bethpage members.
The UFCW Local 342 Federal Credit Union’s only branch, in Mineola, was scheduled to close.
Bethpage has 26 branches, including one in Mineola. It is the state’s largest credit union, with more than 203,000 members and $4.7 billion in assets.
The United Food credit union had $5.6 million in assets.
A spokeswoman for Bethpage said this was its third acquisition of a smaller credit union; it previously acquired the AIL union in North Babylon in 2004 and the Lockheed Martin Fairchild Systems credit union in Syosset in 2002.
