Biogen Idec names ex-Merck executive to board

(AP) — Biotechnology company Biogen Idec Inc. says former Merck & Co. executive Caroline Dorsa will fill a vacant seat on its board of directors.

Dorsa, 50, worked at Merck for more than 20 years before becoming chief financial officer of Public Service Enterprise Group in April 2009. The company announced her appointment late Monday. At the same time, it said CEO James Mullen will retire on June 8.
