A new Bravo supermarket will open in about three weeks on Post Avenue in Westbury, replacing a C-Town grocery store that had closed.
Store owner Anthony Santana said Wednesday that he acquired the location on Post Avenue about three weeks ago and that the previous C-Town was involved in a foreclosure.
Bravo and C-Town are both independently owned supermarket chains supplied by Krasdale Foods. Santana, of Lodi, N.J., also owns a C-Town store in the Bronx.
Yesterday afternoon, there was construction going on inside the store, where shelves were knocked over and C-Town signs were still on display. Outside, three big banners prominently displayed the bright Bravo logo and the words "Coming Soon."
Santana said he was only planning to install new floors and cash registers before opening, adding he plans to hire 12 employees in the beginning -- possibly more if business goes well.
There are currently four Bravo stores on Long Island, in Patchogue, Central Islip, Hempstead and Port Jefferson. The small chain has stores across the Northeast and in Florida.
Officials at Krasdale Foods were not available for comment.
