Bricklayers' union seeks 19 apprentices

Local No. 1 of the Bricklayers & Allied Craft Workers union is accepting applications for 19 apprenticeships, officials said.

Application forms can be obtained from the International Masonry Institute, 12-07 44th Ave., Long Island City, Queens, from 8 to 8:30 a.m. Friday and on June 26, Sept. 25, Oct. 30, Nov. 20, Dec. 18, Jan. 29 and Feb. 26.

The apprenticeships are for three stonemasons, three pointer/caulker/cleaners, three plasterers and 10 bricklayer-masons.

Applications must be submitted in person by Feb. 26.

Applicants should be 18 years of age or older, provide proof of completion of high school or GED courses, take a skills exam and drug test, have reliable transportation and be physically able to do the work.
