A fast-growing company that helps Amazon, CVS, Home Depot and other retailers maintain their facilities wants to double the size of its Hauppauge headquarters, executives said.

Broadway National Group LLC plans to expand to the first floor of 100 Davids Dr. The company moved to the second floor in 2019 after purchasing the 65,500-square-foot building two years earlier for more than $6 million.

Increased demand for Broadway National’s services, in particular software to better manage properties, has led to a hiring spree.

The workforce has gone from 101 people in Hauppauge five years ago to 236 today and will end the year at 250, said William E. Paparella, the company's president and CEO.

“We have outgrown our current space, as we have people crammed together and are looking to expand to the first floor,” which is vacant, he said, adding that Broadway National will hire at least 70 additional people within the next two years.

"We are doubling the [company's sales] every four years and I don't see any reason why we wouldn't continue to do so," Paparella told a meeting of the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency on Thursday. "I expect we will eventually have 500 employees in the building."

Records show Broadway National workers earn, on average, $62,000 per year.

The IDA board voted unanimously to grant preliminary approval for $577,640 in tax incentives: a sales-tax exemption of up to $379,500 on the purchase of construction materials and furnishings for the first floor and about $198,140 in property-tax savings over 15 years.

The approval came after Paparella said that without the tax aid he would expand the company's operations in North Carolina and Florida instead. The cost of renovations for the first-floor office space is estimated to be $6 million, he said.

Broadway National has previously won IDA assistance.

In 2017, $1 million in tax breaks were awarded to move the company's headquarters from Ronkonkoma to Hauppauge instead of out of state. The company is projected to save $733,750 on property taxes over 15 years under the terms of the earlier deal.

IDA executive director Anthony J. Catapano said on Thursday that Broadway National has surpassed the 50 jobs it promised to create in 2017; instead adding 135 jobs.

"They really are a technology company and they are growing rapidly," he said.

Broadway National is hired by banks, restaurants and retailers to oversee building maintenance, including snow removal, landscaping, heating and air conditioning, plumbing and other repairs. Contractors are hired to do the work.

Broadway National also provides its clients with software so they can monitor repairs, improvements or other work on their facilities. Paparella said he started the business in his parents' garage in 1989 to make neon signs for stores.
