Building green, cutting costs to be seminar focus
Cutting costs by using environmentally sustainable building techniques will be the subject of a program hosted by a Long Island brokers’ group on Sept. 20.
The Commercial Industrial Brokers Society of Long Island will present How to Make and Save Money by Employing Green Practices at the Motor Parkway Plaza, 694 Motor Pkwy., Hauppauge, a building recognized as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) silver-certified by the U.S. Green Building Council.
A continental breakfast will be served at 8 a.m., and the program will run from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
Topics will include obtaining savings of at least 8 percent to 25 percent on electricity; Long Island Power Authority roof leases, and a LIPA program that allows owners of eligible solar photovoltaic electric systems to earn fixed rates; providing green office environments; and tax savings and rebates, according to a news release.
The speakers will be Gary Joel Schacker of United Realty and Tri/Quad Properties, Ralph Benzakein of Cresa Long Island and Frank Chisholm of Green Revolution.
Admission is free for CIBS members and associate members, and $30 for nonmembers. Reservations are required and can be made by emailing FPicone@CIBS-LI.com.
